Clutter in your home possibly distracts you, your family, and your guests from enjoyment and relaxation. And they say that it is a reflection as to the kind of people living in it.
An environment where things are orderly and neat helps to relax and organize your mind as well.
If you’re tired of the things strewn in various areas in your house, we have a few tips that might help you eliminate your clutter.
Promise yourself that you will become more tidy and keep things in order. You can write this down and put it in a prominent place where you could easily see it, to remind yourself every day.
First off, we recommend using organizers. These can help you organize everything as neat as possible.
There are different types of organizers that might fit your needs, for any room in your home. There are organizers for your kitchen, bathroom, living room, etc.
Another thing is storage. That is, having the proper place and containers or tools to keep your things helps to make a difference.
Before storing your things, however, it might be a good idea to sort them first. You can use these categories for sorting your things:
- Things that are being used every day – Provide boxes or containers (with labels) to put away your things. You can also assign a designated place for each box, according to the room it’s used in.
- Things that are not being used every day – These are things that are not being used at the moment but might be used in the near future. Also provide boxes or containers and you can put these away in storage.
- Things that have outgrown their usefulness – These could include items that have been broken, like remote controls, chairs, toys, etc. You can throw these out to make room for other things.
Also, you can add clothes that won’t fit anymore, or are too shabby to be worn. You can opt to either: i) Repair/sew; or ii) Hold a garage sale.
For your bathrooms, you can opt for a shower caddy. This probably uses up just a little space in your bathrooms, and can help organize your bath essentials.
Organizers can help you greatly reduce the amount of litter and disarray, and possibly clean up your space.
Lastly, it might be best to discipline yourself. Often, it is not good to hold on to things that are of no more use to you. You can use this gauge: If you haven’t used it in a year, throw it out.
